The soldiers formed up in his shadow: it was a hot day. The enemy could surely see him by now: an enormous figure, for whom the town walls were waist-high, waiting patiently for their attack. He could just imagine what they were thinking. Perhaps they would choose not to attack Angaborough after all. They had no Warlock with them: he would have made his power known by now.
An enemy catapult-stone came sailing over the wall; Longaminus caught it and tossed it back. The resulting carnage cheered the townspeople, but Longaminus only sighed: he had lost his taste for war.
